Brainspotting (BSP) is a brain-body therapy that helps you process and release trauma, emotional pain, and unresolved stress.
It’s based on the discovery that where you focus your eyes can connect you to deep, stored experiences in the brain — and that holding gentle, mindful attention on these points can unlock powerful healing.
Developed by Dr. David Grand in 2003, Brainspotting is now used worldwide for trauma, anxiety, grief, chronic pain, medical trauma, and more.
Brainspotting is gentle, intuitive, and somatic. You don’t have to explain everything or “figure it out” — your brain and body do the healing when given the right space and support.
We begin by identifying an issue you’d like to work on — this might be a memory, emotion, pattern, or physical sensation.
Using a pointer or visual tracking, we find the eye position (or brainspot) that seems most connected to the issue.
As you hold your gaze on that point, I guide you to notice what comes up — thoughts, emotions, body sensations — while offering grounding support.
We stay with the process until your system has released what it needs to, often bringing insight, emotional relief, or a sense of lightness.
You are in control the entire time. You can talk, stay quiet, pause, or shift gears at any point.
“Brainspotting bypasses the conscious thinking brain and accesses the deeper brain regions where trauma and memory are stored.” — David Grand, PhD
Brainspotting is often described as deep, quiet, and powerful.
You are welcome to talk or remain quiet, but I do not talk much during the processing time, which is different from traditional talk therapy. We will talk and debrief after the processing time.
You might feel waves of emotion, physical release, insight, or simply a sense of calm. Some sessions feel intense; others feel subtle and peaceful. There’s no “right way” to experience it — each session unfolds uniquely based on what your body is ready for.
Most of the time, you’ll be observing what arises while staying connected to your body. I’ll offer gentle prompts and grounding along the way — but you lead the pace.
