Dr. Elizabeth Wofford, PhD, LPC, LPC/S, is a licensed professional counselor and licensed professional counselor supervisor in South Carolina, practicing since 2014. She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision.
Elizabeth has worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health, private practice, faith-based counseling, and higher education, where she teaches counseling students at Charleston Southern University and supervises future counselors and interns.
Her clinical focus centers on trauma recovery, integrating traditional talk therapy with somatic and bottom-up processing modalities. Elizabeth’s doctoral research explored the connection between childhood psychological and emotional abuse and adult experiences of depression and anxiety, deepening her commitment to healing trauma at its roots.
In addition to her clinical and academic work, Elizabeth is passionate about supporting clients and parents navigating ongoing trauma, including medical trauma and chronic survival states, inspired by her personal journey raising a medically complex child.
This is a refuge for weary hearts and complex stories. Whether you’re navigating trauma, walking through medical hardship, or seeking support as you walk the path of a wounded healer, you’re welcome here.
Land gently. Heal deeply. Grow steadily.
I believe that "trauma is not what happened to you — it is what happened inside you as a result of what happened". ~ Dr. Gabor Mate
Beneath many struggles lies not brokenness, but discouragement — a place where courage once faltered under the weight of pain, fear, or overwhelm.
Every symptom, every survival strategy, was once an act of courage — a way your mind, body, and spirit adapted to circumstances that felt too much to bear. I honor these survival strategies as signs of your strength, not your failure.
Even as you grow and build your life, the body and nervous system holds onto many of those things that have happened. So we need to begin healing from the inside out.
Body based and "bottom up" therapy approaches such as EMDR, Brainspotting, Polyvagal Regulation, and trauma informed talk therapy can begin to each these places and truly release what no longer needs to be held.
My mission is to encourage the discouraged, to walk with those who feel weary or stuck, and to nurture in every individual the resilient courage needed to heal, grow, and face life fully.
I believe courage is not a rare trait — it is a living capacity that can be nurtured, strengthened, and lived. Healing is not just possible — it is a brave and beautiful journey toward becoming fully alive.

I currently offer in-person and virtual sessions. Virtual sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform to ensure your privacy.
In person availability is more limited to certain days/times while virtual sessions have more flexibility in scheduling.
My physical office is located at 597 Old Mt. Holly Rd., Suite 307, Goose Creek, SC.
I combine talk therapy with body based and experiential approaches such as EMDR, Brainspotting, and polyvagal-informed nervous system regulation. My work is grounded in trauma-informed care and designed to support both emotional insight and nervous system healing.
In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other. I’ll ask some questions about what brings you to counseling, your history, and your goals. This session is also a chance for you to ask any questions and get a feel for how we might work together.
Yes. While I work with people from all backgrounds, I am comfortable integrating faith into the therapeutic process for those who desire that. Just let me know what is important to you, and we’ll honor that in our work together.
Most sessions are 50 minutes. Weekly appointments are common, especially at the beginning, but frequency can be adjusted based on your needs and goals.
I do not accept insurance. My session fee is $125/hr for individual therapy.
I can provide a superbill if you would like to file for out-of-network reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider about your out-of-network benefits.
Parent and Caregiver education and support is not therapy — it’s a structured, psychoeducational service designed to help parents of medically complex children better understand their emotional responses, recognize the impact of medical trauma, and explore the unique layers of grief and stress that come with caregiving. These sessions focus on insight, nervous system awareness, and practical tools, not diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions. Therapy involves clinical assessment and treatment of diagnosable mental health issues, while parent education offers guidance, validation, and support through a non-clinical lens.
